يبدأ ليسغ من إشكالية بسيطة تقول بأن ثورة المعلوماتية والاتصالات تكون خواء إن لم تقدم للناس معلومات متطورة ومتقدمة ومتعمقة بمعنى أن تكون شبكة الإنترنت ناقلا فعليا لمعرفة الإنسانية تواكب إيقاع العلم في الأزمنة المعاصرة وفي المقابل يشرح ليسغ أن القوانين الحاضرة عن الملكية الفكرية تمنع هذا الأمر بل تحصر معارف الإنترنت ضمن أطر ضيقة وتقصر معظمها على معلومات متقادمة لا تنفع في التقدم إضافة إلى أنها تمنع التفاعل الجدي النافع بين الأجيال الشابة والمعلوماتية.
