يترك لنا هذا المؤلف كتاب مذكرات شخصية، يروي قصة قضائه في أسر العثمانيين ومن بعدهم المغول لفترة نافت على 32 سنة، طاف فيها بلدانا عديدة في أوروبا وآسيا وأفريقيا (وبينها مصر والشام والعراق وجزيرة العرب) بين 1394-1427 م في فترة عصيبة عصفت بمشرقنا العربي خلالها جائحة المغول في مطلع القرن الخامس عشر للميلاد، فدمرت ما دمرت، ونجم عنها تغيرات سياسية جسيمة، فأخرت فتح القسطنطينية نصف قرن، وعاصرت بواكير دولة الممالك البرجية في مصر.
