يشتمل هذا الكتاب على عدة موضوعات عامة ورئيسة، تخص التعليم في الشارقة ويتم التعريف خلالها على أخبار التعليم وشكله ونوعه وأهله ومناهجه في الإمارات قبل الاتحاد وخصص الفصل الأول : للحديث عن البعثات التعليمية، تلاه الفصل الثاني : عن التعليم في الشارقة والثالث : عن بواكير هذا التعليم وتحدث الفصل الرابع : عن الدراسة شبه النظامية في الشارقة وخصص الخامس : للحديث عن التعليم الخاص في الشارقة، أما الفصل السادس : فتناول الدراسة النظامية في الإمارة ووضح الكتاب ماوصلت إليه إمارة الشارقة نتيجة تلك الجهود نحو الريادة والذي نالته في مجال التعليم، حيث افتتحت فيها أقدم مدرسة شبه نظامية معروفة في الساحل (التيمية المحمودية) عام 1907، كما حازت قصب السبق في إدخال التعليم الحديث للبنين عام 1953 وفي إدخال تعليم الإناث عام 1954.
