تدور أحداث رواية (السلبيات : ما لم يرد ذكره من سيرة حياة أم القاسم) للكاتب \"إسماعيل فهد إسماعيل\" حول أثر الحرب العراقية الإيرانية خلال الفترة من عام 1980 وحتى 1988 ونتج عنها من آثار الطبيعة البشرية، حيث تنقلنا الرواية لقرية في جنوب العراق تسمى \"السبيليات\" تعصف بأجوائها مصائب الحرب العراقية الإيرانية وتضطر أسرة \"أم قاسم\" للخروج من قريتها مضطرة نظرا لتحول القرية إلى منطقة عسكرية محظورة على المدنيين ولكن الأم تقرر العودة مرة أخرى إلى قريتها مع حمارها المطيع المسمى \"قدم خير\" وتقرر الرجوع حاملة رفات زوجها كي تدفنه في مسقط راسه وتتواصل أحداث الرواية فيما بعد في القرية حيث تتعرف أم قاسم على الجنود المتمركزين على ضفة نهر القرية وتسترجع معهم ذكريات القرية والحرب.
