مجموعة من الحكايات الشعبية لشعب زوني، قبيلة من السكان الأصليين لأمريكا، وجمعها كاشنغ، الإسهاب برواية القصص والوصف المطول جدًا، الخيال والخرافات، وخلق اساطير وحكايات تفسر كل الظواهر والأشكال، بما يتضمن المخلوقات الحية مقدمة الكتاب تحدثت عن قصص الشعوب بشكل عام والأساطير ومن ثم الحديث عن قصص شعب زوني المتعلقة بمعتقداتهم، استمتعت بالمقدمة عموما، أجمل حكاية كانت إحدى الحكايات سردها كاشنغ نفسه أثناء حديثه مع شعب زوني، حكاية إيطالية عن ديك وفأر، بعد عرض النسخة الإيطالية في 4 صفحات، عرض كاشنغ نسخة القصة لشعب زوني بعد أكثر من سنة، وتجاوزت فيها نفس الحكاية أكثر من 10 صفحات، الإسهاب والإضافات والتعمق بوصف أبسط التفاصيل، وحتى التفسير لشكل الديك والفأر الحالي، مثير كيف الحكايات العالمية تتبدل مع الزمن وتلبس نمط الشعب الي يرويها.
