يوضح الكتاب لكل نظرية مشاكل خاصة تجعلها عاجزة عن تفسير كافة القاضايا الموضوعية المناطة بها وقد تتفاقم هذه المشاكل الى درجة يصبح من الصعب الاحتفاظ بها ولكن ذلك يتوقف على البديل المناسب ولو لم يتوفر الاخير فسيبقى الحال كما هو عليه دون تغيير ويتجسد الخلاف السابق من نظرية الانفجار العظيم فبرغم الكثير من المشاكل التي اصابتها فإنها ما زالت حية و قوية لدى الاوساط العلمية طيلة قرن من الزمان ويعود السبب في ذلك وفق ما يراه غالبية الفزيائيين الى عدم نوفر ما هو افضل منها لحد. فيما يذهب منهم الى وجود تحيز فاحش لاسباب مختلفة.
