«المكتبة في الليل» هو القصة الآسرة للدور الحيوي الذي لعبته المكتبة في حضارتنا ففي كتابه «تاريخ القراءة»، الأكثر مبيعا على المستوى العالمي والمستوحى من عملية تكوين مكتبة في بيته في فرنسا ويبني ألبرتو مانغويل على نظرية أن المكتبات تجسد ذاكرات الأفراد وكافة الثقافات وكراو ومثير للادهاش ويعتمد على مصادر فيها من التنوع ما كان على رف كتبه في طفولته ومكتبات الإنترنت «الكاملة»، ويمتد مجاله من مصر القديمة حتى غوغل و«المكتبة في الليل» رحلة أخاذة عبر المعرفة الهائلة من الكتب والحضارات.
