Overview
حوت يونس-عليه السلام-هو الحوت الذي التقم يونس-عليه السلام-عندما وقعت عليه القرعة ثلاث مرات متتالية ورموه أهل المركب الذي كان يقله في البحر وظن أن الله تعالى سينجيه من الغرق، فبعث إليه حوتا في عرض البحر، فابتلعه الحوت، لكن مشيئة الله تعالى جعلت يونس-عليه السلام-يعيش في الحوت كما يعيش الجنين في بطن أمه، فبقي على قيد الحياة ومكث في بطن الحوت ثلاثة أيام أو أكثر ولأي علم بمقدار بقائه في بطن الحوت إلا الله تعالى وكان يسمع فيه أصواتا غريبة، فأوحى الله تعالى إليه بأن هذه الأصوات هي أصوات تسبيح كائنات البحر، فأخذ يسبح هو أيضا ويقول : لا إله إلا أنت، سبحانك إني كنت من الظالمين فاستجاب له الله تعالى ونجاه من الغم وأمر حوت يونس أن يقذف يونس-عليه السلام-إلى اليابسة وأنبت له شجرة يقطين تحميه من حر الشمس ولفح الهواء وأخذ يأكل من ثمارها حتى عادت له صحته وعاد إلى قومه مجددا وآمنوا معه.
