توزع الكتاب في ثمانية أبواب، ابتداء بولادة الشيخ وصفاته مرورا بنشأته واشتغاله بالعلوم الشرعية ثم سلوكه طريق الزهد والعبادة وذكر مشايخه في الحدث مع علو القدر والرتب في الفقه والأدب، ثم في بيان أحواله لما تصدى للكلام به على الناس بلسان الوعظ والتدريس والفتوى، وفي ثناء الناس عليه، وفيما نقله أهل عصره عن الكرامات والخوارق التي اتصف بها دون غيره، مع نبذة من بليغ كلامه \"الدنيا اشتغال والآخرة أهوال والعبد بينهما ما يستقر قراره إلا إلى جنة أو نار\"، وأخيرا وفاته: سنة إحدى وستين وخمسمئة وكان قد بلغ من العمر تسعين سنة.
