يتناول هذا الكتاب القصة الكاملة لمحنة عمال منجم تشيلي في منجم سان خوسيه حينما انفصل لوح صخري بحجم ناطحة سحاب عن الجبل ودفن ثلاث وثلاثون عاملا تحت الأرض وكان الانهيار في أوائل عام 2010 وقتئذ هرع مئات الخبراء من مهندسين وعمال إنقاذ وحفارين إلى تلك الزاوية النائية والمهجورة في شمال تشيلي وأتوا متطوعين يقدمون أفكارهم ومعداتهم وجهودهم.
