يعيد هذا الكتاب تقديم رحلة الغرناطي إلى أوروبا وآسيا في القرن العاشر الميلادي في محاولة لرد الاعتبار لرحالة وجغرافي عربي كبير أصدر بعض المؤرخين العرب بحقه أحكاما سريعة ومقتضبة لا تقوم على أساس من الاستقصاء والتحليل فمنهم من أثنى عليه ومنهم من اتهمه بالكذب جزافا وحظيت تحفة الغرناطي باهتمام المستشرقين منذ نهايات القرن الثامن عشر، في الوقت الذي لم تحظ فيه باهتمام يذكر من قبل الدارسين العرب والمسلمين في القديم والحديث.
