ينقسم هذا الكتاب إلى قسمين أساسيين يدرس في القسم الأول القصة القرآنية بوضفها متنا حكائيا بما يعني مجموع الأحداث المتصلة فيما بينها وتمثل مادة أولية للحكاية الواقعة من أشخاص وكان هذا يتطلب منا أن نعود إلى أوائل هذا القرن لنراجع مع فلاديمير بروب منهجه في دراسة القصة وفي القسم الثاني يدرس القصة القرآنية بوصفها خطابا ذا شكل خاص يتوجه به سارد إلى مسرود له وقد تناولنا هذه الخصوصية من خلال المنظومة الثلاثية (الزمن والصيغة والرؤية السردية) حيث تنشأ خصوصية الزمن من العلاقة بين زمن القصة وزمن الخطاب وخصوصية الصيغة من طريقة التنوع الخطابي في النص وخصوصية الرؤية السردية من طبيعة العلاقة بين المتكلم والنص.
