مسرحية \"المتحذلقات\" هي التي قامت عليها سمعة موليير المسرحية الرفيعة واشتهر بفضلها بأنه أعظم كاتب للملاهي وأنبغ ممثل هزلي في زمانه إلا أن هذا الفوز الباهر قد فتح به عهدا جديدا من النضال لمقاومة من أطلقوا عليه لقب \"سوط باريس\" حيث عشق موليير(1622-1673) المسرح منذ شبابه المبكر وترك مهنة المحاماة في سن الواحدة والعشرين وأسس بالاشتراك مع مادلين وجوزيف بيجار فرقة مسرحية جابت أقاليم فرنسا لمدة أثني عشر عاما، قبل أن تنتقل إلى باريس وخلال الأربعة عشر عاما ما بين انتقال فرقته المسرحية إلى باريس ووفاته أشرف موليير على تقديم ما يربو على مائة مسرحية، كتب واخرج وقام بتمثيل العشرات منها.
