تعتبر \"الرسالة القشيرية\" من أهم المصادر فى التعرف إلى مذهب الصوفية وشرح ألفاظها ومصطلحاتها الشائعة فقد حوت هذه الرسالة بين دفتيها مجموعة كبيرة من التعابير التى تدور غالبا على ألسنة الصوفية كما شرحت الأحوال والمقامات والتجليات التى يصعب أحيانا على القارئ العادى أن يفهمها وأحتوت \"الرسالة\" على تراجم لعدد من كبار المتصوفين كما نقلت الكثير من أقوالهم وبينت أحوالهم، وقد قسمت هذه الرسالة إلى قسمين القسم الأول في سير أعلام التصوف وبعض أقوالهم وأفعالهم كنماذج للمريد يسير على هديها أما القسم الثاني فقد عبر عنه بقوله ذكرت فيه بعض سير شيوخ هذه الطريقة فى آدابهم وأخلاقهم ومعاملاته وعقائدهم.
