يتناول المؤلف الأصول (السلالية) للشعب السوري القديم، ويتحدث عن الصابئة الحرانية، الذين عظموا الآلهة المحلية والفكر اليوناني الفيثاغورثي، ثم يتعرض لفلسفة أفلاطين وتأثره في الشارع الرهاوي بوريصان، القائل بثنائية الوجود بين النور والظلمة، ويرى أن النفس الإنسانية الصادرة عن الله ستظل تسعى للعودة إليه ثانية، بعد سلسلة من العذابات بتبديل الأجساد الإنسانية والحيوانية (التناسخ) ثم يحلل كتاب التاسعات ليشرح فكرة الثالوث المقدس المكون من الواحد والعقل والنفس، ويبين العلاقة بين العلم الإلهي عن الحرانية وكيفية اتصالها بالفكر الإسلامي، ووصول العقيدة الحرانية إلى دار الحكمة وإلى الحاكم بأمر الله، ويوضح كيف أثرت تلك العقيدة في تفسير الموحدين لعقيدة التجلي والعناية الإلهية والمعاد والقيامة والتقمص إلخ.
