يتضمن الكتاب في إطار التحقيق الذي قام به الأستاذ حسن الفرقان أيضا نبذة عن كل ما ورد في النصوص التاريخية العربية حول الأوبئة وبعض موجات الطاعون التي عرفتها أو تحدثت عنها مصادر الفقهاء، بالمشرق والمغرب، منها ما ورد مباشرة في مؤلف العربي المشرفي، ومنها ما ذكره الأستاذ حسن الفرقان من مراجع أخرى. وإضافة إلى أهمية الكتاب بمجمله سواء من خلال ما ذكره العربي المشرفي في كتابه أو ما تطرق إليه الأستاذ حسن الفرقان، تجب الإشارة هنا للمجهود الذي بذل أيضا في التحقيب ومحاولة التدقيق على مستوى الفترات الزمنية المرتبطة بالأوبئة في المغرب في القرن 19. والذي يمثل فترة تاريخية لها خصوصيتها، حيث إن العديد من البلدان الأوروبية عاصرت حينها نفس الأوبئة التي اجتاحت المغرب، ولكن آثارها ونتائجها في المحيطين المغربي والأوروبي كانتا على اختلاف شديد.
