تدور أحداث الرواية في مدينة إسطنبول فهي مدينة العراقة والحضارة والرقي تتقاطع درب شخصية فولكان كومان مع شخصية دربي تقلبان حياته رأسا على عقب وتغيران نظرته إلى المستقبل وتدفعانه إلى تغيير سلوكه الذي لازمه لسنوات وإلى تغيير أفكاره التي تجذرت في أعماقه ورسمت طريق ماضيه وحاضره وإذ يشاء القدر أن يلتقي فولكان الرجل ذو السلطة والمال والملاحق من قبل النساء امرأة جميلة تأسره بجمالها فيشعر بالرغبة في رؤيتها بشكل دائم والتعرف إليها بشكل أفضل وتوطيد علاقته معها ليكتشف لاحقا استحالة المضي قدما في هذه العلاقة.
