حاول المؤلف أن يحبك سيرة صلاح الدين في رواية وقعت في 168 صفحة تناول فيها حياته كلها منذ ولادته بقلعة تكريت وهجرته إلى الموصل وحلب وبعلبك ودمشق طالبا للعلم حينا ولقتال الصليبين ضمن جيش عمه شيركوه ووصوله للسلطة في مصر وتوحيد جيشي الشام ومصر تحت قيادته بتكليف من السلطان نور الدين محمود، وما تعرض له من محاولات اغتيال كثيرة من قبل الصليبين أو عملائهم، والتي باءت بالفشل وأما الانتصار الكبير الذي حققه في معركة حطين وفتح بيت المقدس فقد أخذ حيزا كبيرا من الرواية صور فيها الرواية الأحداث بكل دقة وتفصيل. جاء في تعريف الرواية مايلي الرجال كثير لكن الأبطال قليلون. وصلاح الدين الأيوبي واحد من هؤلاء الأبطال الميامين.
