تحكي القصة أنه بعد وفاة \"داوود\" ورث ابنه \"سليمان\" الملك والنبوة وقد أنعم الله عليه وسخر له الجن والريح وعلمه منطق الطير والحيوانات وحادثة النملة التي سمعها وكان لسليمان هدهد غاب مدة حتى غضب منه سليمان وتوعده إلا أنه عاد ومعه خبر عن مملكة سبأ التي كانت تعبد الشمس من دون الله فأرسله سليمان برسالة إلى ملكتهم \"بلقيس\" يدعوها فيها إلى عبادة الله فعندما فتحت الرسالة وقرأتها أيقنت أن هذا الكلام ليس كلام ملك فقط وإنما كلام نبي من أنبياء الله.
