يعتبر الكتاب دراسة قطاعية متميزة أوقفت هيمنة مؤرخ الأقلية على تاريخ الأقلية اليهودية وجعل تاريخها جزء من تاريخ المغرب ومسؤولية مؤرخ الأكثرية حتى استطاع التفوق في جانب لا يستطيع مؤرخ الأقلية تناوله وهو استثمار الوثيقة العربية والمصدر العربي وهذا ما يعدمه المؤرخ اليهودي حين تناوله لقضاياه ضمن المساحة الكلية لتاريخ المغرب فقد تمكن الدكتور لمغيبشي من تجاوز تموقع المؤرخ اليهودي على ذاته واستطاع أن يقفز على تاريخ التباكي كما تكتب سارة ليبوفيتشي في كتابها حول اليهود بتطوان الصادر منذ ما يقرب أربعين سنة ويتحدث الكتاب عن يهود تطوان (1492-1900) حيث يطرح موضوع تناول يهود المغرب مدى درجة الحياد التي يمكن أن يتحلى بها الدارس لضمان الموضوعية من أجل تفادي إقحام الانفعالات الدينية في الدراسات التي يفترض أن تظل أكاديمية في شكلها وجوهرها.
