تناول هذا الكتاب الموسوم ( أطلس تاريخ الدولة الأموية ) قيام الدولة الأموية على يد أمير المؤمنين معاوية بن أبي سفيان رضي الله عنهما في وقت كان المسلمون أحوج ما يكونون فيه إلى وحدة الصف وجمع الكلمة ورأب الصدع ولا سيما بعد تنازل الحسن بن علي رضي الله عنهما بالخلافة لمعاوية في \"عام الجماعة\" عام 41 ه/ 661 م. ومنذ ذلك الحين والدولة الأموية تحمل على عاتقها نشر لواء الإسلام في أصقاع المعمورة حيث أرسى معاوية كيانها كخلافة قوية وجذب مخالفيه على طاعته وعمل على توحيد كلمة المسلمين.
