وتناول القواسمة في كل فصل من فصول الدراسة الواقعة في 151 صفحة من القطع الكبير بنية من بنيات الرواية التي تشكل الجزء الثاني من خماسية \"مدن الملح\" للروائي العربي الراحل التي أنجزها ما بين عام 1984 وعام 1988 وأوضح الناقد في فصل كتابه الأول بنية الحبكة في الرواية وحصر عناصرها في تحديد الأحداث ونموها وأساليب عرضها، ودرس في الفصل الثاني بنية الشخصيات وبين علاقة بعضها ببعض مركزا على علاقة الراوي بالشخصيات.
