الكتاب هو الثالث في فلسفة الفكر الديني بين الإسلام والمسيحية حيث تم الانتهاء في هذا الجزء إلى الدراسة المقارنة بين علم الكلام وعلم اللاهوت. وقد تم في سياق الجزأين السابقين تتبع علم الكلام وعلم اللاهوت المسيحي في نشأتيهما والأطوار التي تعاقبت عليهما مع المقارنة بين الطرفين. كما تم البحث في المنزلة التي يعترف لهما بها في جريها الثقافيين المختلفين، وتمت ملاحظة كيف نظم كلا منهما نظره إلى المسائل وتطور بها. وفي هذا الجزء ينظر الشيخ صبحي الصالح الحال النهائية لكل منهما، وهي حالة علما قائما في بنيانه واستقلاله، فيحاول، بالمقارنة مع علم اللاهوت المسيحي، تبين مشكلتي الماهية والمنهجية كيف تطرحان في علم التوحيد الإسلامي.
