تتحدث آمنة الرميلي عن سيرة الطاهر الحداد الذي ترك وراءه مشروعا حداثيا ضخما قوامه تحرر المرأة والرجل من كل صنوف الاضطهاد والدونية وإهدار الكرامة. وتقف الباحثة على الجانبين اللذين ميزا الشخصية العلمية للحداد ؛ فأما الجانب الأول فيتمثل في اهتمامه بالمسألة النقابية وبحقوق العمال، إذ انخرط في حركة محمد علي الحامي النقابية ودافع عنها وأرخ لها، وأما الجانب الثاني فيتجلى في كتابه \"امرأتنا في الشريعة والمجتمع\". ويدل على إدراكه أن \"المجتمع الذي تستعبد فيه الأم والأخت والزوجة والإبنة هو مجتمع غير جدير بالحياة، وأكدت له تجربته القضائية أن المرأة في تونس تعاني الكثير من صنوف التمييز والتهميش وتغصب على ألوان من القهر داخل النظام الأسري القائم.
