ظهرت حضارة بلاد الإغريق بشبه جزيرة البلقان وخليج بحر إيجة بالساحل الشمالي للبحر المتوسط بمنطقة جبلية سهولها ضيقة، تتناثر فيها مجموعة من الجزر الصغيرة في بحر إيجة وقد كان لموقعها تأثيرا هاما على حضارتها وتاريخها وفلسفة اباطرتها ونظرتهم إلى الحكم وهذا الكتاب بأجزائه الثلاثة يغوص في التاريخ القديم لأباطرة وفلاسفة الإغريق، يدونه (بلوتارخ أو بلوتارك \"فلوطر خوس\" الذي ولد في عهد \"كلوديوس\" في حدود العام (45) أو (50) ميلادية والتي تتلمذ على يد الفيلسوف \"امونيوسي\" وزار مصر وقضى في روما ردحا من الزمن.
