يتناول الكتاب رحلة المؤلفة نحو \"الاحتضان\"، حين بحثت عن أمومة خاصة فعثرت على ضوء شمعة يتراقص ضوئها في آخر النفق، فأعدت عدتها لترسو على شاطئ \"الاحتضان\". وقد حرصت الكاتبة على إزالة الإلتباس بين الاحتضان والتبني، وبينت الفرق بينهما وهو أن طفل التبني ينسب لاسم الأسرة المتبنية ويورث، وهو ما يحرمه الدين الإسلامي، بينما الاحتضان هو ضمن كفالة اليتيم في أعلى مراتبه، حيث يتم تربية الطفل ورعايته وتعليمه في كنف أسرة حاضنة، وأنه في حالة ظهور أحد من أفراد عائلة الطفل المحضون الحقيقيين يحق له استرداده في أي وقت، وهو أمر يجب الامتثال إليه رغم ألمه.
