يعتبر كتاب مختصر جمهرة النسب لابن الكلبي اختصار وتعليق المبارك الغساني أوفى مختصر لكتاب لابن الكلبي وقد اختصر جمهرة ابن الكلبي من قبل ياقوت الحموي ت626 في كتاب أسماه المقتضب من كتاب جمهرة النسب وإذا كان كتاب المقتضب هو جمهرة ابن الكلبي بصورة موجزة لاقتصاره على أصول الأنساب وترك الفروع والتفاصيل والشروح فإن كتاب المبارك الغساني مختصر جمهرة النسب يعد أوفى مختصر لكتاب ابن الكلبي فقد نقل المختصر فصولا كاملة من أصل الجمهرة بدون اختصار وأشار في صفحات أخرى إلى عدم الاختصار فهو بهذا يكاد يقترب من الصورة الكاملة لجمهرة النسب لابن الكلبي لاتساع مساحة النقل عنده عن ياقوت.
