فهذا كتاب \" نهاية الإحكام في معرفة الأحكام \" لخصت فيه فتاوى الإمامية على وجه الاختصار، وأشرت فيه إلى العلل مع حذف الإطالة والإكثار، إجابة لسؤال الولد العزيز علي الحبيب إلي ولدي \"محمد\" أطال الله عمره إلى آخره ويشير إلى عظمة الكتاب أقبال العلماء وأساطين العلم عليه، وجعله من مصادر كتبهم، ونقل عباراته في كتبهم، وقد ذكر العلامة المجلسي في مفتتح كتابه النفيس \"بحار الأنوار\" الكتاب من مصادر كتابه بقوله \"وكتاب نهاية الفقه\". والكتاب كان مشهورا بين الأصحاب متداولا بينهم. نهاية الإحكام كتاب يحتوي على جل المسائل الفرعية الفقهية، مع الإشارة إلى الدلائل بعبارات موجزة. وجدير أن يقال : أن كتابه هذا من أجمل كتبه الفقهية تفريعا، كما يدل عليه عنوان الكتاب، وأوضحها دليلا وبرهانا خرج منه كتاب الطهارة والصلاة والزكاة والبيع إلى آخر الصرف، وهو الفصل الأول من فصول المقصد الثاني من مقاصد كتاب البيع.
