يتخذ هذا الكتاب من المعني القرآني منطلقا لتحديد الأداة في كتب إعراب القرآن، ذلك أن النص القرآني خصيصة في البناء الفني والتشكيل اللفظي، وهذا ما عالجه التمهيد من علاقة بين المعنى والسياق لتكون الإجابة من كتب إعراب القرآن نفسها وفضلا عن ذلك أصل التمهيد مصطلح الأداة يتتبع ورود مصطلحي الحرف والأداة عند علماء علماء اللغة والنحو وتناوب هاتين التسميتين على هذا القسم من أقسام الكلمة في العربية ليخلص إلى القول أن تسمية الأداة أصوب من تسمية الحرف لأنها أقرب إلى ما يتطلبه المصطلح من دقة الدلالة.
