Overview
يتألف الكتاب من ستة أبواب يشتمل كل باب على فصول تتراوح بين خمسة وعشرة من ذلك الباب الثالث وهو في ثلاثة فصول الأزهار والثمار والنبات وفيه طائفة كبيرة من أسمائها وصفاتها وختم الكتاب بقطعة نثرية رفعها للملك الأفضل ابن صلاح الدين الذي ألف الكتاب له في عنفوان شبابه وكان قد لقيه في حصار عكا يوم الأحد 5 / جمادى الآخرة / 587 هـ ومدحه بقصيدة افتتح بها كتابه وقد أجرى ابن ظافر بعض التعديلات على كتابه هذا كما كان يصنع في معظم كتبه فأضاف عليه إضافات ولم يتركه على حلته الأولى التي قدمه بها إلى الملك الأفضل.
