يقول الكاتب في كتابه صدر الأمر بالقاء القبض علي وراحت الشرطة تطاردني في الدائرة وفي مخزن الإطارات المستوردة لحساب الحكومة الذي كنت رئيسه لقد قتل عدد من أفراد الشرطة في مظاهرة تشرين ولابد أن بعض المتهمين ستصدر عليهم احكام بالإعدام إن شرطة التحقيقات الجنائية ووكلاءها يعرفونني جيدا ومن السهل عليهم تشخيصي حين يتقدمون بالشهادة ضدي، وسوف يصدر الحكم بسجني لمدة عام أو أكثر وسأفصل من وظيفتي بالتأكيد وهذا ما حدث فعلا، فعلام البقاء إذن ؟ فلأهرب وبعد أن تنكرت تنكرا محكما ولبست ملابس الأعراب سفرت بالقطار إلى البصرة ويتابع الكاتب مسيرته.
