نعني بالأعلام الطائفي هو ذلك الخطاب العاطفي الذي يتكئ غالبا على الدين ويستحضر التاريخ التصادمي بين الطوائف المختلفة، ويسعى لخلق الأكاذيب والشائعات، بهدف إيجاد الفتن المؤدية إلى الاحتراب الطائفي، كما يتعمد الإساءة للآخر والتحريض عليه وإهانته والتقليل من شأنه وازدرائه، عبر مختلف وسائل الإعلام المؤثرة في عالمنا اليوم. وهنا ينبغي التمييز بين هذا الخطاب، الذي يستهدف التحريض وأحداث الفتنة بين طوائف الأمة وبعضها البعض عبر تزوير الحقائق وتهييج المشاعر، وبين الخطاب الديني الذي يتكئ هو الأخر على الدين بصورة أساسية ولكنه لا يحمل أي نفس تصادمي أو تحريضي. وإنما يستهدف إيضاح وتعميم مفاهيم الدين وقيمه العليا مضافا إلى جوانبه التشريعية سواء المتعلق منها بالعبادة أو المعاملات.
