يعد هذا الكتاب أحد أبرز المؤلفات العثمانية التي ألفت خلال هذه الفترة ( 1305هـ / 1884م)، ويحوي بين دفتيه زخما هائلا من ترجمات للخطاطين العرب والفرس، وخاصة الخطاطين الأتراك وجهودهم وآثارهم الخطية. الكتاب يصطحب القارئ في رحلة مع الخط منذ النشأة ومراحله المبكرة ومروره بالعصور المختلفة حتى وصوله إلى أنامل الخطاطين الترك والمجلدين والمذهبين.
