هذا الكتاب فيه عرض للنظرية الجمالية للفيلسوف الإيطالي بنديتو كروتشه في أصولها وإمتداداتها الكانطية والهيجلية، وتتمحور هذه النظرية حول فكرة أساسية هي وحدة الإبداع الفني، حيث يسعى إلى التوفيق بين النشاط الباطني (الحدسي/ الروحي) للإبداع الفني والنشاط الخارجي الحسي التعبيري له، وذلك إنطلاقا من مفهوم محوري في هذه النظرية هو مفهوم \"الحدس التعبيري\" محتفظا للإبداع الجمالي، في الوقت نفسه، بغنائيته المميزة لصميميته والتي لا ينفصم عنها، وبعيّانيّته المجسدة له بإعتباره صورة تعبيرية جمالية حسية وليس تجريدا مطلقا، فالفن يتلون بالحسي كما يتزين ببعده وعمقه الميتافيزيقي.
