يتناول هذا الكتاب موضوعة اللغة وتمظهراتها الصوفية لدى الشاعر العباسي ابن الرومي، فقد عاش ابن الرومي حياته مطاردا من ذاته ومن واقعه الذي اتسم بالحزن والفراق واللوعة وقد جاءت اللغة لتكون ترجمانا لهذه التجربة وكانت اسقاطاتها صوفية بحتتة، فقد وجد الرجل ضالته بالعالم الصوفي وقد حاول تطويع مفرداته للفكرة الصوفية وأحيانا في لا وعي التجربة الشعرية ابان كتابة القصيدة سقطت.
