نحن إزاء مسرحية تعتمد التاريخ لكنها غير تاريخية، لأن صاحبنا أنطونيو جالا يريد أن يقدم لنا أميرة بكنسية : السيدة خيمنا، فقد أعفاه مئونة هذه التبعة المؤرخون، قدماء ومحدثون، لكنه اتخذ التاريخ وعاء، وتعامل مع الرواية الشعبية كما وصلت إليه عن طريق الشاعر الجوال في \"ملحمة السيد\". ولم تحترم مسرحيته التاريخية بمعناه الحرفي، بل إنها تعارض التاريخ، ولذا كتبها \"بالكلمات الصغرى\" عكس التاريخ الذي كتب \"بالكلمات الكبرى\" كما يشير المؤلف إلى ذلك ساخرا، وإلا فإن الحب-كما تقول حمينا-إحدى الكلمات الكبرى، وربما رأى بعض الناقدين هذه المسرحية سوء استخدام للتاريخ الذي ينظر إليه الأسبان نظرة القداسة خاصة ما يتعلق ببطلهم \"السيد\"
