يتحدث الكتاب عن دور الخليج في السياسة الدولية حيث أدت منطقة الخليج العربي دور بارزا في السياسة الدولية إلى درجة أنها أصبحت أحد المحاور الرئيسية في الصراع الدولي الذي دار بين الدول الكبرى وبخاصة القطبين الرئيسين الولايات المتحدة الامريكية والاتحاد السوفيتي ذلك الصراع الذي أطلق عليه بالحرب الباردة التي أصبح الخليج العربي أحد بؤرها وساحة لتصارعهما في المنطقة وغيرها من البلدان الأخرى وقد شغلت تلك الحرب فكر المؤولين والسياسيين في بعض مناطق العالم من أجل مواجهتها ودرء الأخطار التي قد تسببها لها وللحفاظ على كياناتها بعيدا عن الفوضى.
