اجتمع لي كتب ثلاثة ألفت للسلطان، واجتمع لي الأمهات من هذه الكتب- النسخ الأولى التي كتبت للغوري وقدمت إلى خزانة كتبه. فجعلت هذه الكتب الثلاثة موضوع بحث ألقيته في مؤتمر المستشرقين، الذي اجتمع في بروكسل سنة 1938. ورأيت أن أطبع \"نفائس المجالس السلطانية\" كله ثم بدأ لي أن أختار منه ومن الكتاب الآخر \"الكوكب الدري\" ما يفي بالمقصود، وأن أعفي القارئ من كثير من المسائل التافهة المتشابهة التي يتضمنها الكتابان، فاخترت للكتابين مسائل وافية بتصوير مجالس الغوري وتبين آرائه وآراء العلماء الذين كانوا يغشون مجالسه، لتكون صفحات من تاريخ بلادنا في القرن العاشر الهجري.
