تناول الكتاب دراسة جغرافية مصر بأنواعها وقد قرر هذا الكتاب على طلبة الجغرافيا في مصر كلها وذلك لما لهذا الكتاب من أهمية وما فيه من معلومات عظيمة وقد سماه شخصية مصر لما يدرسه من شخصية مصر الإقليمية والبشرية والزمنية والتكاملية وإن علم الجغرافيا في رأي جمال حمدان عاشق الجغرافيا هو علم متفرد متوحد مطلق لا علم نمطي متكرر نسبي فالجغرافيا كالتاريخ لا تعيد نفسها بالضبط ولا الإقليم يكرر نفسه ومن ثم فلا قانون للإقليم من حيث هو ولذلك فإن دراسة الإقليم لا تقتصر على الحاضر وإنما تترامى إلى الماضي وخلال التاريخ وهذا ما يدرسه هذا الكتاب الرائع.
