ساهمت هذة الرواية بشكل كبير فى إيصال الكتاب والمؤلف الكولومبي الشهير غابرييل غارسيا ماركيز ليكون من الفائزين بجائزة نوبل للآدب عام 1982 صدرت هذة الرواية عام 1979 وترجمت إلى معظم لغات العالم في ساعة نحس تحدث في قرية كولمبية بلا اسم وشخص ما يضع قصاصات هجائية حول البلدة يلخص أسرار الناس المحليين المخزية وعندما يقتل رجل حبيب زوجته المفترض بعد معرفة خيانتها يقرر رئيس البلدية بأن ينسب الموضوع كله إليه ويعلن حكما عرفيا ويرسل الجنود للقيام بدورية في الشوارع ويستعمل أيضا حالة الاضطراب كعذر لإتخاذ اجراءات صارمة ضد أعدائه السياسيين.
