الكتاب يصرح فيه الكاتب بأنه دفاع عن المنطق الفكري أي عن المنطق الذي تجري عملياته باستعمال المعاني والأفكار وهو دعوة قوية لإبقاء المنطق في دائرة الفلسفة ولمنع الرياضيات من ابتلاعه في تيار الانسياق الصوانية التي لم تلتفت إلى الاستعمالات الواقعية للأفكار وللمعاني كما تجري وتتدافع في نشاط العقل البشري الفطري وإذا كان هذا الكتاب دفاعا عن المنطق الفكري فإن صاحبه يستنكف عن أن يكون هذا العمل منه رفضا للمنطق الصوراني الذي يستعمل لغة الرموز بدلا من لغة المعاني.
