يشكل هذا الكتاب دراسة في شعر السمي سر وهو : خلف بن فرج الإلبيري، توفي سنة (484ه) كان أعجوبة مقال ومقام، وعرف بشعره الذي يتكون من مادة دهره، وخاصة في الهجاء والقدح، كان شعره حاضر في كل لمن يشكون الهم ويلاقون من الدنيا الصعاب. يتألف الكتاب من تقديم وفصلين : الفصل الأول : قراءة في شعر السمي سر وتضم -بنية أشعار السمي سر : دلالة اللفظ والمعنى، اللفظة المفردة، وسائل التجسيد، الموسيقى الداخلية. أما الفصل الثاني فهو : جمع لما توفر من شعره.
