تناولت فيها قضية مهمة وهي أمراض ذات صلة بالمال في الطبقات الأرستقراطية يقال إن النساء يحببن الرجال حتى رذائلهم وآنا كرهت فيه فضائله. آنا كانت فاتنة الجمال ذات عينين فبراوين صاحبة ابتسامة ساحرة آنا زوجة أهم رجل بالدولة وأم لابن جميل وذكي. أمرها أنها لا تتحمل الكذب صادقة مع نفسها لذلك عندما أحبت الضابط فرونسكي لم تسمح لنفسها أن تكون عاشقه في الخفاء. في القطار رأته سألته لما هو معناها في ذات القطار ثم يطرق رده أبواب قلبها لتفتح له باب ما حرم الله وباب الهلاك لها، قائلا سيدتي يجب أن تعلمي أنا هنا لاكون حيث تكوني فيشعل نيران قلبها.
