هذا الكتاب يؤرخ لمساجد صنعاء في فترة معينة في الزمن، هي العام 1358هـ، جمع المؤلف مدوناته، بأمر دولة المتوكل على الله، الإمام يحيى ابن المنصور بالله محمد بن يحيى حميد الدين- كما يقول المؤلف في مقدمة الكتاب- وهو يدرس بالإحصاء، والتتبع مساجد صنعاء، عامرها، وموفيها، وما يتعلق بها، قال المؤلف : \"لقد استفدت من كتب التاريخ، ومسّودات الأوقاف، والمكتبات المحفورة في الألواح، والمنقوشة في الجدران، مع استفهام أهل العلم والمعرفة بماضي صنعاء، وحاضرها.
