كتاب محاضرات في علم اللسان العام في هذه الطبعة الثانية ينبغي ان ينظر اليه بعد صدور الوثائق الجديدة والشذرات التي عثر عليها اخيرا سنة 1996 وظهرت في مطابع جليمار 2002 تحت عنوان شذرات معالم عن اللسانيات العامة توضح كثيرا من الافكار والاراء عن منهاج دي سوسير وطريقة تفكيره وأصل هذا التفكير ونموه ومشاغله واهتماماته وما يميز هذه المشاغل بوجه عام في هذه الشذرات المعالم وفي المحاضرات هو الحرص الشديد على وضع الاسس المعرفية الابيستسمسة لقيام علم اللغة وايجاده بإزاء العلوم الانسانية كأن علم اللغة بعد هذه القرون الطويلة مع النحاة الهنود والاغريق والرومان العرب لم يتأسس كعلم مستقل.
