في كتابته لسيرته هنا، يجمع الشيخ الدكتور طه جابر العلواني، العالم الأصولي المتضلع بتاريخ الحضارة الإسلامية وعلومها النقلية مع خبرته وعلمه في فن كتابة السير والتراجم الغنية عند المسلمين وفن كتابة السير المتطورة في الغرب غير يسير من حياته هناك، وهذا يجعل هذه السيرة ذات طابع ونكهة خاصتين وممتعتين ومفيدتين حيث عاش شطر للقراء المهتمين بالسير الذاتية وتاريخ وسياسة العراق في الخمسينيات والستينيات من القرن الماضي، والتي كانت بحق فترة صاخبة ومليئة بالصراعات َّ السياسية والفكرية، ولها أثرها في تطور الأحداث في العقود اللاحقة.
