تتحدث رواية \"فيليت\" عن فتاة اسمها (لوسي سناو) ترعرعت في الريف الإنجليزي، وعملت خادمة ثم مربية للأطفال في منازل النبلاء الأثرياء وظلت (لوسي سناو) تتنقل من منزل إلى آخر إلى أن انتهى الأمر بموت عرابتها، فقررت الهجرة إلى فرنسا بحثا عن عمل آخر وفرصة أخرى للحياة، والرواية مليئة بالأحداث والمواقف وقصص الحب الجميلة التي لا تخلو من فكاهة وحزن وخيبة أحيانا ورواية تجسد الجانب الإجتماعي والديني والأخلاقي لتلك الفترة وتظهر العلاقة بين أفراد الطبقات الاجتماعية وتسلط الضوء على حياة المثقفين والجانب الفكري والمعنوي لأبطال الرواية.
