الكتاب عبارة عن دراسة ببليوغرافية، لما ألف حول الشاي والقهوة في التراث العربي المخطوط، ورتبت فيه أسماء المؤلفات ترتيبا زمنيا وفق تواريخ وفيات مؤلفيها، مع بيان مواضع نسخها المخطوطة، ونسبتها إلى مؤلفيها في كتب التراجم والببليوغرافيا ثم قدَمت لها المصنفة بدراسة عن تاريخ القهوة والشاي ونشأتهما، وتسميتهما، ودخولهما للبلاد العربية، وكلام العلماء فيهما تحليلا وتحريما، مع الحديث عن تأثير الجانب الأدبي في هذا الصنف، واختلاف مقاصد العلماء في التأليف فيه نظما ونثرا، ثم الدراسات المعاصرة التي ألفت حولهما.
