تشير الباحثة إلى أن الأمثال الشعبية التي اختارتها في هذا الكتاب \"ليست سوى نماذج للصور المتداولة حول النساء وعلاقتهن داخل المجتمع، والتي تحمل أفكارا وتمثلات ومفاهيم نابعة من عمق التكوين الاجتماعي والعلاقات السائدة بين عموم الجمهور، ولعل ما يمكن ملاحظته وبشكل واضح هو وجود صور ثابتة حول النساء تتكرر باستمرار وتشكل النمط المثالي الذي يرسمه حولهن نوع التفكير السائد في المجتمع وتهيمن على هذا النمط \"النمط المثالي\" صور سلبية مستمدة من ثقافة تقليدية تعمل على تكريس الوضعية الدونية للمرأة في التراتبية الاجتماعية كما أنها مستمدة من تفسيرات معينة للفكر الديني وتأويل خاص للحكايات والخرافات والتي يشكل قاسمها المشترك تبرير المكانة المتدنية للمرأة في الهرم الاجتماعي وفي القيم الرائجة عنها.
