تستعرض الرواية بإيجاز حياة بابلو بيكاسو وعلاقاته مع النساء. ما هي المرأة التي يعشقها الفنان ؟ ما هي بالنسبة إليه ؟ وكيف ينظر إليها ؟ ولماذا هي مهمة ؟. قد يبدو الكتاب أقرب لاستعراض شخصي في حياة هذا الإنسان، لكن أعتقد أنه يمتد لجوهر آخر، إنها مسألة أكبر من هوس الشخص بموضوع معين، إنها حالة ممتدة للاستمرار الفني، إنها الاحتياج الذهني. المرأة بالنسبة للروح الفنية هي احتياج ذهني محض أكثر منها عاطفي، وهذا ما يعيب دائما منطق الفنانين بالعام (أدباء أو رسامين أو موسيقيين .. الخ)، ما يجعل النظر للتاريخ الفني وعلاقته مع المرأة ينضج بالأنانية والعجرفة والاستحواذ والمرض.
